A drop test determines the ability of a package to withstand the rigors of handling by humans and machinery in the shipping and handling (i.e. distribution) environment. Several studies have conclusively demonstrated that a truly flat drop represents the worst possible input to a packaged product. Hence, it’s important that lab-based drop tests be conducted using a drop-test system carefully engineered to insure the flattest impacts possible.

Well-designed drop testers allow your company or organization to thoroughly:

  • examine the effectiveness of package cushioning
  • gauge the package’s ability to protect contained product, dunnage, closures, edges, corners and other fundamental design attributes when exposed to all possible or potential drop-test orientations

Well-designed drop testers should be:

  • manufactured to meet or exceed industry test standards
  • factory-calibrated and documented to these standards

Tight criteria such as these make for accurate and thorough performance evaluations.
